Attending college can be challenging and fun. You are in longer classes with more homework, but you are also making new friends and learning interesting things. While you are at college it is a good time to pick up a new hobby. Good time management will allow you to pursue some fun hobbies in between study sessions. Here are seven great hobbies for college students.

  1. Game — Video games can be a fun hobby you play by yourself or with others. You can play almost anywhere at any time — except while you are in class. Gaming has grown to include people of all ages with many interesting and challenging games. This is a great way to relax and unwind after a long day of classes.
  2. Exercise — If you prefer moving to sitting, you might be interested in exercise. You also do this solo or with a group. Exercising will help you relieve stress and get your body and mind in shape. You can use the college gym or go out for a run or bike ride in a local park. Hiking, swimming, and biking are all great forms of exercise that can take as long as you want. This is a great hobby that you can do in the morning, noon, or night.
  3. Sports — You can join an intramural sports team at your college or form a team with your friends. Football, soccer, baseball, and tennis are just a few of the many sports available to you. Sports can help you form friendships that will last a lifetime. Another fun sport is ultimate frisbee. You can also find local leagues in your community. Bowling is a great way to relax and enjoy yourself alone or with friends.
  4. Dancing — Locate a local dance studio and take some dance lessons. It is great exercise and will help relieve the stress from studying. Rumba for beginners, the tango, or other dance lessons are available on and off campus.Look up a local dance studio on line and find out when the next lessons will be held. You can go with your friends or enjoy a night out by yourself and meet new people who are also into dancing. A fun night moving around the studio will help you forget any challenges you faced during the day.
  5. Traveling — Take some time and explore the world around you. You can travel off campus to a local park or museum, or you can take a trip out of state. Wherever you go you will have new and interesting experiences. Traveling will help open your mind to the world outside your campus. Meet new people, try new food, see new sights. Traveling can also be educational and help you with your studies. This hobby can be done close by or far away. It can also lead to opportunities after you graduate.
  6. Volunteering — Putting aside a few hours one or two days a week to help others is a great hobby. You can volunteer in one place or jump to different places each month. Food banks, animal shelters, and others are always looking for volunteer help. You can also organize a drop off point for clothing or other needs and take it to a local women’s shelter. There are many ways you can help out others. This is one hobby that will make you feel good and make a difference in the world.
  7. Online — There are many different online hobbies out there. You can crate a podcast or write a daily blog. Podcasting is a fun hobby that is inexpensive and gets your online presence out there in the world. Blogging is also fun and and they are both creative outlets you can do in your spare time.
