In order for society to function we need an educated population. Imagine what the world would look like without doctors, nurses, and teachers. Unfortunately societal and personal goals don’t always align with the greater good of society. People short change the future in order to save in the present. This makes sense on a personal level — the cost of graduate school is out of control and it just doesn’t make sense for many professionals to take on that level of debt and possibly be stuck with it for the rest of their lives. There are, however, a few tricks that can help to reduce your debt load upon graduation.

Look for work study programs or employers who reimburse tuition costs. Companies like AT&T, Best Buy, UPS, and Walmart offer employees anywhere between $2000 and $25,000 for tuition expenses. After graduation look for companies that offer student loan payback programs — it’s the newest benefit option for many companies to help attract and retain top talent. There are also online Master’s Degree programs that may cost less than a traditional program.
